Career Profile

As mentioned on the Welcome page of my site, I’ve contributed to a variety of publications, as well as regular appearances on BBC Radio 5 Live’s ‘Listening to Livesey’.

I’ve provided daily news content for the magazine Octane and undertaken sub-editing duties for websites such as Auto Trader.

Here’s you can find a brief run-down of my work in the industry to date.

Features Writer, Mini Magazine, Future Publishing 2011-

The best monthly mag for the original Mini, I have worked providing feature content on modified and restored cars. As a long-timer lover and owner of the mighty Mini, I was extremely pleased to provide content for the title, and aim to work on a regular basis for the title.

Reviewer, Game People, Website 2010-

Taking charge of the ‘Race Gamer‘ column, I have become responsible for reviewing all the major racing and driving titles for the current crop of video game consoles. The site offers anecdotal reviews rather than the cold, statistical reviews commonly found with rivals. As well as being a keen games player, my experience as a motoring journo offers me a unique insight into the driving game genre. In 2011 I was given my own column, becoming the ‘Motoring Gamer‘, reflecting my career as a motoring writer, rather than a motorsport competitor, as the previous incumbent had been.

Features Writer, Car Mechanics, Kelsey Publishing 2010-

A magazine for those willing to roll the sleeves up and tackle jobs themselves, Car Mechanics offers buying advice, news, reviews and ‘how-to’ guides. I have worked providing features for the title, with further technical articles and guides planned.

Today, the site has a broader profile, covering the British car industry in general. I have worked providing both news and features for the site, mainly on the MG and Rover marques.

Web Editor/staff-writer, Diesel Car Magazine (website), Trojan Publishing 2010-

Working in an online capacity for Diesel Car, I have worked editing news copy as well as providing general editorial copy. The website relaunched in March 2010, with the intention to make it the website for anyone with an interest in diesel and alternative fuelled vehicles.

Features Write and Contributor, Classics Monthly, Future Publishing. 2010-

Continuing to indulge my love of all marques of classic cars, I began freelancing for Classics in February 2010. As a long-time reader and fan of the magazine, I was thrilled to get the opportunity to write for them. Since 2010 I have written a variety of features and owners restoration stories, as well as contributing staff diaries, detailing the sagas behind my ownership of a 1973 Austin 1300 and MG BGT.

Features Writer, Total Vauxhall, Future Publishing. 2010-

Aiming to expand the niche titles within my portfolio I gained my first commission for Total Vauxhall in early 2010.  Specialising in owner’s stories and modified cars, Total Vauxhall is the magazine for anyone with a Griffin on their bonnet.

Features Writer and Road Tester, What Diesel,(Diesel Car from March 2010 on) Trojan Publishing. 2009-2010 Blaze Publishing May 2010-

Looking to demonstrate my ability to cover current cars as well as classics, I began working for What Diesel in 2009, with my first article going to print in their November issue. Since then I have continued to work steadily for the title, covering news stories and the more quirky side of diesel motoring.

Features Writer and Columnist, Den Of Geek (website). Dennis Publishing 2009

An online magazine covering the sci-fi and cult segment of television, film and video-games. A big fan of video-games and science fiction, I joined the site to expand my portfolio.Writing reviews and an opinion column, the site has offered me the opportunity to write about a totally different field of interest.

Features Writer, Triumph World, Kelsey Publishing 2008 -Present

A magazine I have contributed to on several occasions. Similar in theme to MG Enthusiast, Triumph World, as the title suggests covers all the cars built under the Standard Triumph marque. Working again as a features writer, covering classic Triumph motor cars and events.

Features Writer, MG Enthusiast, Hot House Publishing and Kelsey Publishing (Jan 2010 onwards) 2008-Present

The magazine that gave my break in the industry. My first article was published in April 2008, since then I have become a regular contributor, travelling throughout the UK and also in Europe, covering mostly modern MGs as well as motorsport events and shows.
