My cars

You can probably tell a lot about a Motoring Journo by what he drives, so goodness knows what my cars say about me!

Currently I’m driving:

2009 Citroen C3 Picasso

Bought in 2010 after the birth of our first child, the Picasso plays the role of Family Fun bus in the Sloman Fleet, be it load up with welly boots and our faithful mut, taking the Christmas tree to the dump, or setting off on family holidays, the Citroen tackles it all without complaining. Add in its ability to do 65mpg and its easy to love the little French fancy…

2011 SEAT FR 2.0 TDi

My current long-termer for Diesel Car, as the advert says its ‘like a Golf’. Only cheaper. And better looking. Which the advert doesn’t mention. You can read monthly rolling reports on the SEAT each month in Diesel Car.

2003 MG ZS 120+

I’m a sucker for anything from Longbridge so when this ZS in need of some TLC came along I couldn’t say no! Regular diaries and features will be seen in MG Enthusiast about the MG hatch, so keep ‘em peeled.

I’ll get some prettier pictures of the MG up when its had some of that TLC!

1973 MG BGT

The most important member of the fleet! The Blaze GT has been in my family since ’73 and its fair to say played a huge part developing my interest in classic cars. In 2011 I got her back on the road after a long term hibernation and hope to get some serious use out of her during the summer months. Bring on the sunshine, I say. The MG, along with my other classics, can be read about as part of my Staff Diaries in Classics Monthly magazine.

1973 Austin 1300

A car I’ve always liked, I finally bought a ‘big Mini’ in 2011. I’ve not yet had chance to do too many miles in the car my wife christened ‘Audrey’, still 2012 will be a big year for the ADO16, the model celebrates its 50th Birthday and I’ve got some pretty special plans for my car as well. Like the MG, the Austin is often the subject of my staff diary in Classics Monthly.

1976 Rover 3500S

There’s something about the sound of that Rover V8, isn’t there. The Rover joined the fleet again, in 2011. It’s a solid, if slightly ropey runner that came from the depths of Cornwall back to sunny Devon. The V8 is a real joy to drive, mechanically its a smooth as it was when it rolled off the Solihull line back in the 70s. Like my other cars, it’s often the subject of my words and pics in Classics Monthly.
