About Me

So, who is Adam Sloman?

I’m car mad and footy mad. Need I say any more? Well, I will. Just in case you’d like to know.

Me, circa 1984

Me, circa 1983

Born in Exeter in 1982, I have always had a huge passion for all things automotive, and for the written word. My first word was ‘car’ and things have snowballed from there, by aged 6 I had perfected the art of hand-brake turns on my red Kettler pedal go-kart. At school I excelled at the creative subjects.

Aged seven my step-father and I joined the MG owners club, and a life-long love of cars born.

School wise, I attend the Woodroffe School, in Lyme Regis, Dorset, for both secondary and Sixth-form education, with English, German and Media Studies being my choice subjects.

I bought my first of 18 Minis upon passing my driving test in 2000, and fell head-over-heels for the little car, taking part in the London To Brighton Run on numerous occassions, and travelling the length and breadth of the UK to attend shows. I have also owned numerous Rovers, Vauxhalls, a Peugeot, a SEAT and a few others! If it’s got four wheels, it’s of interest to me.

I began freelancing in 2008, successfully being published in a variety of magazines and websites. I am also a published photographer, with a Canon EOS 400D being my weapon of choice. I have covered a wide variety of events and stories, both in the United Kingdom and Europe.

As far as I’m concerned, you just can’t beat the buzz of putting your words down in print, and sharing that with people. It’s an amazing feeling, and I feel privileged to be able to do it.

Away from work, I like to try new things, and keep learning, life can get dull if you slip into a routine. I love gadgets and tech, I am a keen football fan, supporting Coventry City FC through thin and thinner. I enjoy almost all forms of motorsport, particularly rallying and touring cars, having been introduced to the BTCC by my brother in law back in 1995. Another huge passion of mine is video-games, from the ZX Spectrum to the Xbox 360 and PS3, I’ve played them all, and still do. I love science-fiction, and I’m a keen reader and cinema-goer, if only for the salted popcorn.

Me now

I’ve also found a strong passion for photography through my freelancing, and I am currently enjoying learning the art behind the lens. I am however, probably the world’s worst wild-life photographer!

I’m married and live with my wife, Sarah, our daughter Lily and our Jack Russell Terrier, Ralf. I consider myself a family man or family guy, I’ll always try to do anything I can to help anyone out, and I’m at my best when I can have a laugh. If there’s a smile on my face, things must be going right! Life’s too short for crap cars, and crap jobs, so why put up with either?
