The Classic Motor Show 2009
Nov 17th
Another superb show at the NEC this year, with a huge variety of cars, trade stands and autojumble. There was almost too much to take in.

A proper police car!
From Minis to Bugatti Veyrons, there was everything and anything at the NEC. Photography proved a challenge too, thanks to the awful lighting and vast numbers of people, all wanting to look at the same stuff I was intent on snapping. Thankfully I was there for me, and not for work, so it didn’t matter too much if I just snapped away!

My car on display at the NEC-I wish!
My personal star of the show was the Chevrolet V8 engined Rover P4. Proudly polished up and showing off on the Classics Monthly stand, the V8 P4 really showed a fun and inventive reimaging of what is in my opinion, a bit of a staid classic. I’m not sure the P4 Drivers Guild would approve, however! The car featured in last month’s Classics Monthly and with 400bhp on tap I reckon it’s probably a little bit more lively than the original spec 2.3 litre lump.

V8 P4-The huge crowd on the Classics Monthly stand made it nigh on impossible to photograph the beast. If you want to see more, get last months copy of the magazine.
So another cracking day at the NEC, one day just wasn’t long enough to take it all in, I didn’t even get through to the MPH show. Next year I think a whole weekend will be the way to go.
Hankering after a project…

Why is it when winter comes around thoughts turn to getting a project on the go?
It may well have something to do with me recently joining the Retro Rides forum, and looking longingly at their ‘For Sale’ section, I love this Datsun, it just oozes cool in my book (sadly Sarah disagreed)

One word-Cool.
A few different cars have tempted me, mkI Ford Fiesta, another Mini (which would be so much fun, I’d want an unmodded 998cc ’80′s car) maybe an early Metro. Hmm, it’s damn tempting to find something and wield the spanners again. With a baby on the way in a little over two months, it’s probably not going to happen, but you never know, you never know…
